The launch of NSS-8 state of the art satellite from Sea Launch pad on Pacific Ocean ended in complete failure as Zenit-3SL launch vehicle exploded at start.
The NSS-8 Ku- and C-band satellite for Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent was originally destined to replace old NSS-703 at 57º East.
The total loss of the satellite means that NSS-703 will now remain at its original position until early 2009 when currently in construction NNS-9 replaces NSS-5 at 177° West and the latter can be relocated to 57º East...
